Mum and Dad entertained a lot. She loved a party and had an extensive wardrobe of bright and fashionable clothes. She loved dancing too. They particularly liked to entertain the grandchildren as they grew up and got boyfriends and girlfriends of their own. I remember Laura’s Peter being ‘interviewed’ about his prospects, etc. when they first met. Peter had never seen so much cutlery in front of him before as they served up a three-course dinner – often Dad’s special home-made mushroom soup or melon balls with ginger or prawn cocktail – all very 1970’s style! Peter got through the ordeal somehow and passed the test with flying colours but he was a broken man!
